Born to Run Adventure Racing Charitable Trust is about two unique objectives. We want to create the most exhilarating adventure races imaginable, all while advocating for the welfare of miniature ponies.

From Rescue to Racehorse

We prioritize the welfare of miniature ponies while striving to create exciting adventure races.

Despite their adorable appearance, miniature horses often find themselves without purpose and unfortunately endure less than ideal living conditions. Health issues such as laminitis, founder, morbid obesity, or neglect are all too common. Hence, we endeavored to establish something beneficial for these remarkable equines—a platform that not only enhances their quality of life but also encourages a healthier lifestyle. Our aim is to provide an opportunity for everyone to participate in something meaningful.

Many members of our race team were once rescues, and witnessing their transformation into healthy, happy, and adventurous companions fuels our passion. Miniatures possess ample attitude, aptitude, and endurance, coupled with remarkable intelligence and a compact size—perfect qualities for adventure companions. Their love for running and exploration is infectious, and even those without prior horse experience can partake in the fun. We believe that venturing into the wilderness with these miniature companions not only enriches their lives but also brings joy and fulfillment to those who embark on off-the-beaten-track adventures with them.

Why Adventure Racing?

Why not? Exploring untamed landscapes, venturing beyond the usual routes, and fully immersing ourselves in the natural world are incomparable experiences. Adding a competitive element only amplifies the thrill and enjoyment, injecting an extra dose of excitement.

Our team boasts a diverse background, ranging from leading expeditions in remote regions to participating in extreme endurance races, managing wild horses, and excelling in competitive horse riding, among other pursuits. Simply embarking on a leisurely pony walk didn't quite meet our standards of excitement.

Taking cues from the spirited tradition of pack burro racing in the USA, the plethora of multi-sport races in New Zealand, and our own extensive equine expertise, we set out to create an event that stands apart from the rest. We believe we've crafted something truly exceptional and can't wait to introduce it to all of you.
